This event will be a 3-hour interactive workshop designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of machine learning and deep learning. The session will combine theoretical concepts with practical, hands-on exercises to help students and conference attendees gain a solid understanding of key algorithms, techniques, and applications. Participants will have the opportunity to work directly with real datasets and tools, allowing them to explore model building, training, and evaluation in a guided environment. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have both foundational knowledge and practical skills that can serve as a steppingstone for further studies or research in the field of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Hamid Mukhtar

Dr. Hamid Mukhtar is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham Dubai, where he also serves as Head of Industry Engagement and Careers. He previously held academic and leadership positions at Taif University, the National University of Sciences and Technology, and Telecom SudParis, with research engagements at CERN in Switzerland.

Dr. Mukhtar earned his PhD in Computer Science from Telecom SudParis, France, and has over 15 years of experience in academia, research, and industry consulting. His expertise lies in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and human–machine interaction, with applications in healthcare and smart systems. He has authored numerous high-impact publications, co-invented a patent on SMS-based geographical message distribution, and secured multiple international research grants.
